Sakai will replace Blackboard as the primary learning and collaboration environment at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Why are we moving to Sakai?
- It serves multiple purposes including courses, research collaboration and administrative uses.
- It provides equivalent course functionality to Blackboard without licensing costs and restrictions.
- It is cost effective and efficient.
- It allows us to innovate, extend, and support an application that meets our needs.
There are a number of peer institutions using Sakai today. By participating in this active, vibrant community, we can benefit from a depth of expertise that already exists and we can contribute to and influence the future direction of the application. In doing so, we are better able to control and manage long-term costs and sustainability.
